Archived AnnouncementsVAST Invitation File Corrected 03-03-2010The VAST invitation file has been corrected under the Meets page. New Meet Added to our Schedule 03-02-2010We are adding a new meet to our schedule for the weekend of March 27-28th. This will be our last meet before our team Spring Break, and we will resume practices on Monday April 5th. The meet is an "Odd Age Group" meet. Read the meet invitation posted under our Meets page for more information. An online signup has been posted for those interested in attending and the signup deadline is Friday, March 12th.

Below is a meet report for A/BB Champs. This report indicates which events, if any, your child is eligible to swim at A/BB Champs in Lynchburg 2/26-2/28. If your child is not listed on this page, he or she is most likely eligible to swim any events in his or her age group at B/C Champs in Roanoke 2/19-2/21.

GATOR Meet update for this coming Weekend... 02-04-2010The decision regarding the Gator Meet this weekend will be made by tomorrow AM approx 9am. There is a proposal to move the meet to next weekend if it looks as though we will be unable to get our swims in this weekend. Week 19 Newsletter 01-03-2010The Week 19 Newsletter is NOW available. Welcome back H2okie Aquatics Families. Our Normal Practice Schedule will resume on Monday, January 4th. BASS Hotel Deadline, Meet Signup, and More 12-28-2009Hotel Reservations for the BASS meet at the end of January need to be made by January 3rd to receive the reduced group rate. Christmas Break Schedule 12-18-2009Remember to check out the optional practices available for Olympic Development swimmers between 12/18 and 12/25. Olympic Development swimmers resume practice on Saturday, 12/26, and they will follow an adjusted practice schedule. Stroke School starts back up on Monday, January 4th.
Krispy Kreme Fundraiser Information 12-17-2009The Krispy Kreme Donut Fundraiser is now taking place. Order forms were passed out at the Winter Carnival Meet. All order forms should be turned into Allen Roseberry at Blacksburg Aquatic Center on Friday, January 8, 2010. If you will not be there on this day, drop the order form off with a coach before January 8th and we will ensure that Allen gets it. Donuts will be delivered to BAC for pickup on Tuesday (1/12) and Wednesday (1/13). Contact Allen Roseberry with questions using the contact information listed under the 'Parents Page' of the website. The cost is $6/dozen. Parking Passes for Winter Carnival Meet 12-14-2009Virginia Tech requires you to have a visitor parking pass to park on campus during the Winter Carnival Meet. Please see Amy Brehl at practice on Tuesday or Wednesday if you need a Visitor pass. Winter Carnival Information 12-14-2009Immediately following the Winter Carnival meet this Thursday at War Memorial Hall, there will be a high school swim meet. Mary Kay Fundraiser 09-30-2009During the month of October, Kate Bixby, our local Mary Kay representative, will be selling Mary Kay products and raising money for our team. All prices will be discounted 25%, and H2okie Aquatics will receive 25% of the sales. Kate will also be at Blacksburg Aquatic Center on Friday (10/23), and Monday-Thursday (10/26-10/29) to accept orders.

New Swimmer and Returning Stroke School Evaluations 08-16-2009All new swimmers into our program must first be evaluated by our coaching staff before registering. Also, all of our returning Stroke School swimmers will also need to be re-evaluated. The online registration format will be a lot easier on everyone if we know a little more precisely which group will be the best fit for our upcoming season. Remember, we are offering a little more flexibility this fall with the commitment levels for our Stroke School swimmers. We now offer three commitment options: 1/day, 2/day and 3/day per week options. A Schedule will be out soon but at the absolute minimum, swimmers will have at least 4 days to choose from. Very exciting news for the multi-sport/activity stars! Practice times will be finalized after evaluations. Practices will not begin before 4:45pm and end after 6:30pm on any given weeknight. I hope this will help in your planning.

Congratulations to Lauren Frizzell, John Clark, Danielle Ho, and Julia Goforth for achieving Age Group and Senior Champ cuts this past weekend. Also posting best times include George and Ryan Zolovick, Gabrielle Ho, Tessa Walsh, Ben and Chris Poff, Stuart Clark, Edwin Lu, Erin Hall, and Taylor Newman. Way to go HOKI swimmers! Results will be posted below shortly. Practice Cancelled: Monday, July 20th 07-20-2009Due to inclement weather in the area, we are cancelling practice for all groups on Monday, July 20th. SVSL Championship Food Donations Signup 07-16-2009H2okie Aquatics has been offered the opportunity to host concessions at the upcoming SVSL Championships on Saturday, July 25th at the Dedmon Center. Concessions are a huge source of income for our team and the more we have to offer, the more revenue we can generate for our team. Wednesday Practice Announcement 06-10-2009Currently we are still planning on holding practice on Wednesday at Blacksburg Aquatic Center. If thunder and lightning persist, we will cancel practice and notify swimmers with another announcement. Inclement Weather 06-10-2009At the current time (3:40pm), both Ridgewood Swim Club and Blacksburg Aquatic Center are under a severe thunderstorm watch and we are unable to get into the water. I will update this again around 4:15pm and make a decision with regards to the BAC practices beginning at 4:45pm and 5:00pm. Current radar projections have us under a thunderstorm watch until after 8:00pm.

Food Donations Information | Food Donations Sign Up | Pasta Salad Recipe Evan Gregg wins 50 and 200 Free at Senior Champs 03-09-2009H2okie Aquatics swimmer Evan Gregg recently won the 50 and 200 Freestyle at Senior Champs posting times of 20.60 and 1:37.50 respectively. Evan will travel to Orlando with Sara Goforth and Natalee Roseberry on March 15th to compete in the NCSA Junior National Swim Meet. In addition to Evan's accomplishments, Sara Goforth, Natalee Roseberry, Jessi Thangjitham, and Sara Nockengost combined to set team records in the 200 Medley Relay and the 400 Freestyle Relay.

Excel Aquatics Swim Meet 12-04-2008Congratulations to our 36 swimmers for an outstanding weekend of swimming! Over the past three days, H2okie swimmers have achieved many new Age Group, Senior Champ, and Junior National qualifying times, as well as many new time standards and team records! 100% of swimmers that attended the meet posted best times. The meet results are posted below, and we will recognize individual achievements in our next update. We are so proud of all of our swimmers for their hard work and tremendous achievements! Coaches Make Olympic Leap 10-21-2008
Dedmon is Back! 10-21-2008We will once again be returning to the Dedmon Center. The tentative date of our return is Monday, November 3rd! The repairs and transformations to the Basketball arena are moving along so much that they are just about ready to re-open the swimming pool. Attention parents, memberships will be sold to those who are wishing to use the pool during our practices. This is a great way to stay fit while your kids are burning up some of that energy! Please check back as we confirm this date early next week. Gator Meet Review 10-14-2008H2okie Aquatics performed great at the Gator Meet this past weekend! We had over 50 swimmers participate in the meet, and great swims from every athlete there. The results will be posted soon!

Thanksgiving Meet: Volunteer Information 10-03-2008The Thanksgiving Meet volunteer information has been posted under the parents section. Please visit the parent's page using the links on your left and follow the instructions for volunteering. Dedmon Center 10-03-2008We are still awaiting final approval to use the Dedmon Center. Until we receive final approval, all practices will run out of Blacksburg Aquatic Center. Please continue to check your email and the website for any updates on the Dedmon center availability. Lynchburg Results 09-20-2008H2okie Aquatics swam great at their first official swim meet of the 08-09 Short Course Season! Great swims from every group including a new team record from Haley Terpenny, who rebroke her own record in the 11-12 Girls 50 butterfly with a 29.40. We also had several swimmers achieve new qualifying times and new time standards. Congratulations to all swimmers who competed in their first ever USS swim meet, and to all returning swimmers for a great first meet of the season!

Not only was this the largest group we have had but one of the best skilled group of swimmers we have seen. Your previous lesson instructors or swim coaches should be very proud of the work they have done preparing you for H2okie Aquatics. The coaching staff is extremely excited to work with each and everyone of you. Below you will find a practice schedule and more importantly the group assigments for the beginning our our season. Inclement Weather and New Swimmer Evaluations 08-26-2008On Wednesday, August 27th and Thursday Aug.28th we will be holding our evaluation practices from 7:00-8:00 PM for new swimmers at the Shawnee Swim Club in Blacksburg. We still plan to hold them despite mother nature. If you were planning on attending but for whatever reason could not make it to the evaluation, please send Scott Baldwin an email- thru the contact us link. We will have to find a time next week to get your child assessed and into the correct practice group. We are extremely excited with the response we have received and are lookiing forward to a historical year of swimming!

Eastern Zone Swim Meet Report 08-17-2008H2okie Women represent the Commonwealth of Virginia at the Eastern Zone Age Group Championship Meet held August 6th through 9th. H20kies Swim Record Times at LC Age Group Champs 07-30-2008The H2okies had another exciting championship weekend at the Virginia Age Group Championship meet. Elllen Veith, Ellery Lester, Haley Terpenny, and Danielle Ho combined to place 4th in the 11-12, 400 Medley relay while breaking the team record by 24 seconds! They later set another team record in the 400 free relay. Terrence Lo, Takoda Grove, Ian Ho, and John Clark also set a team record in the 11-12, 400 freestyle relay and placed 9th overall. Natalee Roseberry placed fifth in the 13-14, 50 freestyle with a time of 28.44, Danielle Ho placed 4th in the 50 and 100 Breaststroke, posting best times in each, and Haley Terpenny went on to place 5th in the 50 Butterfly with a time of 32.03, which broke the existing team record. Haley Terpenny, Natalee Roseberry, Danielle Ho, and Kenneth Lo made zone qualifying times. Ellen Veith, Ellery Lester, Lauren Frizzell, Ian Ho, John Clark, and Takoda Grove posted best times for the H2okies in nearly all of their swims. Congratulations to each of these swimmers for an outstanding meet! H2okie Aquatics Swimmers Perform at Summer Awards Meet 07-15-2008H2okie Aquatic Team returned from Manassas, Virginia yesterday where we swam our very first summer championship meet and the results were exciting! The H2okies brought 14 athletes to the meet and out of 81 swims, our swimmers posted 71 best times for a combined 733 points. Takoda Grove and Ellery Lester qualified for the Age Group Championship meet in the 100 Backstroke and 50 Backstroke respectively while Lauren Frizzell achieved her 400 Freestyle Age Group Champs cut by .02! Also posting best times and achieving new time standards were Julia Goforth, Ellen Veith, Terrence Lo, Stuart Clark, John Clark, Christopher and Benjamin Poff, Sarah Kizer, Kaitlin Wilson, and Taylor and Lauren Zuchowski. Congratulations to these swimmers for their hard work and dedication this summer and for representing the H2okie Aquatic club spectacularly at the club’s very first championship meet! Practice Has Begun!!! 08-23-2006Our new swim season has begun! We have quite a few new folks coming into the program this year, please extend a warm welcome when you see them. Also, I will have our Team suit on Display this week with ordering forms available. 2006-2007 Registration Information: 08-10-2006The start of the new season will be upon us shortly. If you have not received your registration packet or you are new to our program, please click on the "Read More" below. SWAT ROCKS at Summer Championships... 08-10-2006As predicted earlier in the Summer, SWAT swimmers swam practically out of their suits during two meets, Age-Group Champs in Manassas and Senior Champs in Fairfax,VA. These two meets led to a total of 7 new team records. Leah Potts(12) accounted for three, 50,100,200 back(11-12 age-group), her 50m back was good for 2nd in the state. Evan Gregg(15) had four- 50,100,200 Free, 200 IM(15-16 age-group). Evan Gregg's 24.24 in the 50m Free was good enough for 2nd in the State and earned him his first Jr. National Qualifying time. He will head to Irvine,CA Aug 6th to go head to head in the fastest 18 and Under Swim meet in the country. Other members of the Age-group Champs team: Sarah Goforth, Katherine Everett, Lilly Potts, Adam Vaught. Members of the Senior Champs Team: Jessi Thangjitham, Collin Fox, Philip Baudoin, Nico Baudoin Awards Ceremony 08-10-2006Thanks to all of those who attended the awards ceremony on Saturday. Blue Ridge Regional Championships ( A/BB's) 08-10-2006The trend created by our B/C swimmers continued into the A-BB-Blue Ridge Regional Championships this past weekend. Two new team records were set along with 91 new best times. SWAT's 7th place finish left 12 other teams looking up at the action as Ian Ho swam to two new 8&under Team records in the 50/100 back. Allyson Buennemeyer(9), Julia Goforth(10), and Emily Glasson(14) swam to their first A times in the 50 back,100 breast, and 500 free respectfully. The momentum is building as we enter the next levels of swimming with Sr. champs, march 9-12, and Age-group champs, March 16-19. Southwest District B/C Champs 08-10-2006Congratulations to our SWAT team members who swam to a fourth place finish at the Southwest District Championships. We had 63 swimmers compete and achieve a collective 159 new best times. The 8 & Unders saw their hard work payoff with 28 new best times. A great job by all! SWAT Frosty Invitational 08-10-2006Ian Ho paced the team to a season best second place finish this past weekend with two new team records, 8&under 25 free and 25 back(a 14 yr old record!). In a total TEAM effort, the SWAT sharks were circling the competition all weekend long as 69 individuals scored points. The 12& unders had 68% of their swims recorded as best times. The senior and junior level swimmers proved their hard training and grueling HS meet schedule to be no obstacle as they too swam to some great in-season bests. This momentum will give the swimmers and our coaching staff great motivation in practice over the next couple of weeks as we enter the championship meet season.
SWAT Invades Pittsburgh!! 08-10-2006Southwest Aquatic Team sent 13 swimmers, 7w and 6m, to the highly prestigious 2005 Christmas Invitational swim meet in Pittsburgh. Despite being one of the smaller teams, SWAT finished 15th out of 61 teams in scoring; the men’s team was 9th of 42 and women 22nd of 51. Two long-standing Pittsburgh meet records were broken, five top-ten national times established, and multiple SWAT team records were set (SWAT all-time records to follow soon at the SWAT web-site). All swimmers set personal bests in both preliminaries and finals. Moreover, great times and a great time were had by all Team Records Fall at SWAT Thanksgiving Invitational 08-10-2006SWAT swimmers saw 4 team records and 7 meet records fall during the annual SWAT Thanksgiving Invitational (Nov 11-13) at Radford University's Dedmon Center. SWAT finished fourth out of 15 teams from VA and MD and narrowly missed finishing 3rd. SWAT was led by their strong 11/12 yr old girls where the 200 free relay of Natalee Roseberry, Mimi Brinberg, Sara Goforth and Leah Potts broke both a 7 ½ yr old team record as well as a meet record. The 200 Medley relay of Natalee Roseberry, Sara Goforth, Katherine Everett, and Leah Potts finished second and missed another Team record by only .02 seconds. Great Job Girls! Evan Gregg continued his pursuit of swimming at the highest level with 4 Team and 6 Meet records.

The Swimming community lost another great member when it was sadly announced that CGBD swimming coach, Carl Warner has passed away. As can be seen in the picture to the left, Carl (in his custom face paint) was a vibrant coach alway there for and encouraging swimmers to do their very best. Please join the CGBD swimming family with your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of a great coach, motivator and friend. More info will be posted as it comes available.

The coaching staff attended the Eastern States Coaches Clinic this past weekend. Here they heard current and former Olympic coaches John Urbanchek, Gregg Troy, Richard Quick and leading sports psychologist Dr. Allan Goldberg speak on a number of topics. It was a great weekend of information overload and the entire staff walked away with a few new ideas, some reinforcement of old ideas, and great appreciation of the amazing team we have, from our swimmers to our parents! However, the highlight of the weekend had to be when coach Heather Rowland got into a discussion with Olympic Gold medalist, Ryan Lochte over where the proper hand entry should be in Backstroke. See picture to the left.
We will be postponing our scheduled practices for Thursday, January 17th because of the snow and the forecast of ice later this evening. Stay warm but be sure to get out and test your sledding skills! We will try and resume regular practice times tomorrow, Friday Jan.18th. Check back to the website for any updates/changes. SWAT's very first Stroke School Mini-Meet took place this past Saturday, Oct 13th at the Blacksburg Aquatic Center from 8-9am. There were many great performances and nothing but smiling faces throughout the mornings introductory mini-swim meet. This months meet focused primarily on the skills that have been practiced to date: free, back and freestyle kick. What an exciting time of year for our swimmers. The success stories and new best-times keep rolling in at each and every meet we attend. We are now on the home stretch run with Agegroup Championships in Newport News,VA March 15-18, Sectionals in Maryland March 17-18th, Zones in Buffalo,NY March 28-31, and USA Spring Nationals in NYC,NY March 28-31. This season has marked one our better performances in placing people in higher level meets. The coaches are excited about what is to come over the next couple of weeks. A thank you to all teams, parents and coaches for coming to this years meet. We had an extraordinary number of swimmers this year and everyone was helpful and patient throughout the weekend. Awards will be mailed out here shortly for those that were left behind. Please find below files from the meet.
SWAT swimmers took their competition faces to the Halloween Invitational this past weekend and rewrote the traditional phrase of "Trick or Treat" to Trick or BEST TIMES! 70 of our 140 member team put their hard work on the line and together recorded an outstanding 256 new best times. That's not a typo, 256 NEW best times!!!
Congratulations to our SWAT swimmers who competed in the dual meet against LASO on Saturday, Sept. 23rd. We saw many first and second year swimmers get the needed experience in racing. The coaching staff will be hard at work on Monday as we continue our pursuit of excellence and prepare not only for the Oct 14-15 meet in Roanoke but our year-ending Championship Meets! 
Our annual Swat Intra-squad meet will be held this Sunday at the Dedmon Center in Radford. Here we will have our team picture taken (individual photos are available for purchase), an introduction to a swim meet, and a team picnic. Team Suits can be ordered at this time. Cam and Kate Buss along with Kaitlyn and Kyndall Oakley traveled to Charlottesville,VA last weekend to participate in a mini-triathalon. Congratulations to our SWAT team members as their performances were terrific. Cam placed first in his age-group as well as Kate in her's. Great job gang! Keep up the great work!!!
